Abstract

The question of preaching and place is currently the subject of intense debate in Germany. Due to a significant decrease in church membership, the question arises as to what place preaching has in today's society and how it can continue to be carried out in the future, both in word and deed. Related to this is the question of the aspirations of preaching and homiletics, and how they envision their place in society. This paper deals with the question of whose place preaching is and which voices are heard in this place. It argues that German homiletics must critically examine itself in terms of racism and make room for other voices. The paper concludes with a call for preaching and homiletics in the German context from a more humble place.
